Andrea Borbon
Andrea Borbon is a PhD Student in Political Science at ASU’s School of Politics and Global Studies. She is also an Assistant Research Analyst at the ASU Center for Latino/as and American Politics Research (CLAPR). Andrea cares deeply about Latino and Latin American politics – especially how they impact immigration and identity politics. Her research is focused on understanding the behavior and beliefs of underrepresented groups in order to create more equitable and inclusive policy solutions. As someone from a small border town, she has seen firsthand the challenges faced by migrant communities and the way their stories are often left out of political debates. By studying Latino politics, she hopes to build a more complete picture of who contributes to our economy, society, and democracy.
Andrea was the lead research analyst in UCLA LPPI and ASU CLAPR co-publications, and contributed to the initial and main data collection efforts. She trained and helped troubleshoot text scraping efforts, and curated the final datasets for the U.S., Arizona, California, and Nevada samples. She also created the graphics in this report that highlight key quantities of interest.
