Jonathan Raya
Jonathan Raya (he/him/el) is a third-year at UCLA, majoring in Public Health with minors in Urban & Regional Studies and Accounting. He is passionate about increasing representation in the healthcare system, especially in administrative and policy settings where representative vacancies persist.
At UCLA, he is a proud member of Latinxs/Chicanxs for Community Medicine (LCCM), the Donation of Tissues and Organs (DotOrg) Project, University Catholic Center’s Leadership Team, and the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE). During his time at UCLA, he’s interned for the COPE Health Solutions and the Care Navigator Program, where he completed rotations around different administrative units of the MLK Jr. Community Hospital in Compton. This past Summer, he worked in compliance and project management settings under L.A. Care Health Plan and Kaiser Permanente.
Born and raised in the Sacramento Valley, Jonathan is the proud son of first-generation Mexican immigrants and takes pride in his mixed Arab-Latino heritage. His versatile work in healthcare, from being an emergency medical technician to a clinical research assistant to a project manager, has enriched his understanding of the diverse and complex spectrum of healthcare. He aspires to one day become a healthcare administrator and mentor those seeking guidance towards healthcare leadership.
