Special Projects & Operations Manager, UCLA LPPI

Lorena Uriarte (she/her) is the Special Projects & Operations Manager at UCLA LPPI. She is responsible for managing organization-wide and interdepartmental projects, programs, and events. She is also responsible for supporting the establishment and maintenance of structured internal policies and protocols for the organization’s daily operations in close partnership with the UCLA LPPI Deputy Director.

Lorena joined as the Administrative Analyst/Executive Assistant at LPPI in September 2022. In this capacity, she co-managed the inaugural Latina Law Symposium by engaging key legal scholars and practitioner stakeholders across the U.S., co-supervised two UCLA Law School students as Graduate Student Researchers, and onboarded and oversaw a slew of vendors.

Lorena also recently launched the Knowledge Management Project in which she, in partnership with key vendors, interviewed staff and synthesized best practices for storing and maintaining organization-wide data. Previously, she worked at the UCLA Police Department from 2018 – 2022 where she was the sole Crime Analyst. She was responsible for tracking crime trends and patterns for the UCLA jurisdiction, as well as providing crime statistics and analysis to various stakeholders.

Lorena has a strong interest in organizational development, project management, and process implementation. She is a proud daughter of Uruguayan immigrants and the mother to a long-haired chihuahua named Rusty. She holds her M.S in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A in Criminology from The College of New Jersey.
