Policy Fellow

YINA MARIN (she/her/hers) is a junior double-majoring in Public Affairs and Environmental & Geography Studies with a minor in Environmental Engineering. She is a returning Policy Fellow with the UCLA LPPI Research Department, passionate about advancing advocacy through research and education, with a focus on tobacco prevention and equitable transportation in communities of color. At LPPI, she has supported the Economic Recovery and Entrepreneurship Project (TEREP) by producing data briefs highlighting the experiences of Latina entrepreneurs, with the goal of shaping policies that advance opportunities for minority women-owned businesses.

At UCLA, Yina is an active member of the UCLA Heat Lab, serves as Co-Chair of the Long Beach Smoke-Free Coalition, and is the Mobility Officer for the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). She has also participated as a coxswain for the UCLA Women’s Division I Rowing Team. 

Born and raised in Cali, Colombia, Yina immigrated to the United States with her mother in 2015. She is a proud first-generation student.
